When I travel I love to stay in a place that has 3 things: perfect location, great staff, and a very comfortable room. I couldn’t have imagined that I would experience even more when I stayed at The Ambassador Hotel located in the lovely Gold Coast neighborhood of Chicago! This particular weekend I was looking for a cool boutique hotel with lots of character. Read on for my full review of this wonderful gem.
The hotel itself…
I love how effortlessly the hotel had touches of glamour that made the stay better. The Library bar is quiet and spacious for guests to have a drink, work on a project or eat a meal. The leather, the paintings, and fireplace all meld into a beautiful area for you to enjoy.
I have always marveled at chandeliers, and they had one that had me staring for quite a while. It is placed in the entryway surrounded by the architectural detail that is becoming rare these days. Gorgeous.
These pictures speak for themselves, this hotel is super chic, super fab, and plus…they don’t lack when it comes to food quality. Several times I was not interested in eating out so I ate downstairs and each time the food was excellent. Even if you don’t stay here, go try their bacon and egg sandwich for breakfast and you will send me flowers. Promise you. That bacon… honey, don’t get me started! If you order room service try the pancakes. I would love to come back soon, they will be opening their restaurant Booth One this year. If their food offered now is any indication, I know it will be stellar.
While this place is so gorgeous and so chic I have to give a super special shout out to the staff. If you are fortunate enough to be greeted by the lovely Melika at the front desk, your stay starts off on the best note. She is so friendly and knowledgeable. I looked forward to seeing her and telling her about my fun days in Chicago. It felt like I had a new girlfriend to gab with when I saw her. I also have to shout out Sean who works in front of the hotel. He helped me flag down my uber several times and was such a friendly face to see when coming and going from the hotel. There are many other friendly people at this hotel but these 2 were there most of the time so they stood out to me.
The Rooms…
This room was my favorite to come back to at the end of a long day. The room was one of their loft style suites and it was so spacious, modern, and cool with little touches that made me feel at home during my 4-night stay. The view was beautiful at night. The seating area was perfect for guests and for writing, which is so important if you are there for business or for pleasure. Even if you did not have a loft room, the rooms are so well decorated and so accommodating for your visits to Chicago. I seriously cannot wait to return. See the video link for a walkthrough: Walkthrough Ambassador Hotel Chicago.
Lets quickly talk about the bathroom, they had 2 touches that endeared me…2 ceramic cups that were so adorable and the shower. I hate sad hotel showers and being a Cocoadiva I do not want a rain showerhead spraying on my head. They had a shower that was perfect for baths and a showerhead that was not weak. Spray that dirt away y’all lol.
A quick note about the neighborhood. Seeing as how I was in Chicago alone, I wanted to be in a neighborhood that I could quickly access the main sites, that was not far from other neighborhoods, convenient for my friends to visit, and easily walkable. I was within walking distance from shopping (premium shopping) and a quick uber ride to downtown spots. I walked a few blocks over to 3 Arts Cafe (do yourself another favor and go there, it is like a dream) and was able to walk to CVS for a few quick necessities. A couple blocks up and you are at Lake Michigan and you can see the Navy Pier. I felt more than safe as I walked amongst residents and their many adorable doggies. Its delightful in the area.
I don’t think I have to say that The Ambassador is a big yes in my book. Keep in mind, this is no way a sponsored post. When you find something good, you share it with your friends. When you are in a great city you want to experience the best it has to offer and this is definitely among the top contenders.

Wow, the ambassador looks absolutely beautiful! I only live 5 hours away from Chicago, I used to go a lot during my childhood b/c my father was attending Northwestern, but I haven’t been back as an adult. Definately going to have to keep this in mind once I make it back!
