Love Letter #6 – You don’t owe anyone an apology

Love Letter #6 – You don’t owe anyone an apology

Hey there lovelies! I have really missed you guys these past weeks, but over this time I have learned so many new things and I couldn’t wait to fill you in on all that’s happened. I told you in my last love letter that I am buying a house and as time is getting tighter for me to find one, I have realized many things that make me happy (I am always down for a life lesson). On another note, I was invited to Torrid’s Spring dress line preview (see the discount code at the bottom of this post!), I have learned more than ever the importance of self-care in high-stress times. And through all of this I feel more confident than ever that it is crucial for you (and me) to go for what we want, not allow other opinions narrow your view, and definitely don’t allow other people to push you around, take time to value who you are and what you have accomplished. Basically honoring your hustle! You don't owe anyone an apologyBefore I give you another cliche, here is the why for all of the above and this letter is aimed at my lady readers of this blog, but guys feel free to keep reading…  many of us are getting older and finding ourselves in a position where you are ready to take the next step and if you are like me; I thought I would be married by now, so I thought I would be buying a house with my husband (because thats what board games and movies taught me, ok!) and here I am over 30 and no husband and means to purchase a home and I find myself reaching out to people to render services to get that done. What I didn’t expect is that you will find people pulling you slightly in the direction that fits them and you must remember exactly what YOUR goals are and what will work best for you! Not them! And that is O. K. you are not bossy, you are not difficult! What is with some of us ladies that makes us want to apologize or feel guilty for things that we need or even just want as if our needs are inconveniencing people more than anyone else’s do! They sure don’t feel guilty keeping you away from those needs! That is super played out and I am determined not to allow those concerns to be a part of my thinking any longer.

So my search for a home continues, but I have to make room to do the things I love because I can become so overwhelmed by life and big changes and then I stop doing the things that I love (like writing this blog, hanging with my friends, isolating myself, or even going out). I spent the last 3 weeks searching for a home day and night, getting under contract to buy a house and then the seller decided to not cooperate with the process and soon I won’t be under contract and all of that was for nothing! Anyone else find themselves in a similar cycle? Then you come out of it washed out and frustrated. I am going to try a new approach. I am only allowing myself to search for a house for 2 hours a day. I will spend HOURS online searching (yes I have a realtor, lol) but it takes away from work, play, my blog, and myself. Over the next few days I am going to take some time off, recenter and take care of myself (get some real sleep, do all my laundry, make a real housing contingency plan, and just relax, maybe get a massage, go to brunch, or see Black Panther!). Are you in need of a day or two to take care of yourself? Can you plan that day soon? Maybe it will give you the perspective you need.

One super fun thing that I loved last week was being invited to Torrid’s Spring dress line preview event at the W hotel in Atlanta! First off it is my FAVORITE hotel to visit because its skyline view is AMAZING and all W hotels are sooo chic. The event was fun, the DJ was on point and who wouldn’t want to get their photo taken in a mirror photobooth!Torrid Spring Dress Preview

The dresses were so fun, versatile and chic. I saw maxi, skater and midi dresses galore and YAY I got you guys a discount code that you can use for till next Thursday so check them out! Find your favorite dress for any occasion at Torrid: Fashion for Sizes 10-30The code is DRS15 and it is good for $15 off of $50 or more! Thanks Torrid for inviting me and I sincerely hope you guys are doing well! I hope that you take extra time to care for yourself and don’t lose focus on the things that mean the most to you! Can’t wait to talk to you guys again!!! I promise it won’t be 3 weeks later!

You are one inspiring lady Danielle. I think you should take some time for yourself and you should try to find some time to do all those things that you love. I can only imagine how frustrated this is and you might feel that you stuck in some neverending cycle but this might sound like a cliche, I am sure that everything is always happening how is it supposed to happen. So, be always who you are, love yourself first and the most, and every piece of the puzzle will fit when the time is right. Trust the God and trust the Universe. Keep inspiring us, pretty lady! 🙂

As a former Realtor® and current Personal Finance Blogger, take a deep breath. I believe God has a plan for you, and if house #1 didn’t work out, there was a reason for it! Try not to stress too much and just enjoy the process. You’ve lived in your current house for awhile, right? An extra month or two won’t hurt while you find the home of your dreams! You got this!

I hope I do find it soon. I have nowhere to live after the end of the month 🙁 I will be fine though, I am sure something will come up. It’s just a bit scary!

This actually happens all the time. Most of the time the current landlord can be semi-flexible as long as you are upfront with them about everything and keep them in the loop. Will be praying for you!

I can’t even imagine how stressful the home buying process is (though I hope to know some day!) so I hope you’re taking gentle care of yourself. The unknown is so scary but also so very full of possibilities. <3

I enjoyed reading this. We always make plans but they may never turn out the way we want it to. Managing expectations and self-care is usually the best way forward. Keep embracing positivity
